Should Somerton be classified as a 'B' town and get a higher allocation of houses?
ยง I think Somerton is in the wrong category and should be classed as a Regional Centre (Category C) with fewer houses like Langport, Martock and Bruton

I wish to object most strongly to the above Core Strategy and Sustainability Assessment on several grounds.
7. Sustainability Assessment - I believe that the SSDC's Assessments are incorrect, incomplete and unreliable and I believe that after further assessment they should be corrected.
8. I also object to this development going ahead as I believe that the appropriate Consultation under the regulations has not been carried out and I should be grateful if you could please advise me on whether a

I wish to object most strongly to the above Core Strategy and Sustainability Assessment on several grounds.
1. I object because I believe that there is no need for such a large population expansion on the southern side of Yeovil because the statistics on which they are based are incorrect and out of date. I believe the Office for National Statistics is doing further calculations and there is to be further consultation regarding this. I should be very grateful if you could please let me have t

As a result English Heritage considers for the reasons demonstrated by this evidence, the designation for new development as identified is unjustified and contrary to national policy. We question the weight that has been placed on the mitigation suggested through the SA and would like an opportunity to look into this aspect of the SA and how it feeds into the Core Strategy with you directly.

18 months is too long for marketing. It should be 6 or 12 months and include a phrase - or as agreed with LPA.

It is completely wrong to classify Somerton as a Market Town in the same category as Chard for instance and it is definitely not of the same size nor has it the amount of facilities offered by such places. Somerton is more akin to Langport. Both have good public transport which is needed for the out of town shopping, schools and travel. Neither has any rail transport or easy access to that service. Residents of both shop on the other towns as well as the residents of the surrounding village

5. Urban Extension Location
5.1 The East Coker Parish Council has serious concerns regarding the objectivity of the Yeovil
Growth Options Sustainability Appraisals. There are factual inaccuracies, flawed arguments and essential pertinent evidence has not been presented. It is also of concern that SSDC commissioned reports that only considered certain options, rather than covering the 360 degree areas of search. The Parish Council considers the sustainability appraisal to be mainly subjective

Is 500 new houses plus continued infill development the right amount for Somerton?
Too many, Somerton is a small town and this is excessive growth
