Thank you for the opportunity to comment on this review of the Local Plan. The plan shows clear awareness of the link between planning and health – in its widest sense – and seeks to use the planning system to promote the inter-related elements of health, wellbeing and sustainability. In relation to Health and Wellbeing it should be recognised that countryside areas, such as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, can contribute significantly to health and wellbeing via the physical and spiritual recreation opportunities they offer.

We object to the concept that Developers will be asked to fund new primary healthcare facilities and improvements and expansion at YDH. Primary care practices are funded by the NHS using general taxation collected nationally through the contracts which GP's have with the NHS which it is understood include payments for premises and increases in population. M&M believe that the Health and Wellbeing Chapter has missed a fundamental proposal which is the long-standing aspiration of Chard Town Football Club to relocate to a new ground. Chapter 13 of the Local Plan Review is completely silent on this issue. M&M highlighted this concern in their representations on the Issues & Options document but nothing has been included to deal with this issue.
