Ilchester is defined as a Rural Centre, and Policy SS1 defines this as "those market towns with a local service role where provision for development will be made that meets local housing need, extends local services and supports economic activity appropriate to the scale of the settlement". The proposed Troubridge Park development goes way beyond meeting the Ilchester housing need, will not add to local services, except perhaps for the garage services, and will add little to our economic activit

Ilchester No comments as the allocations are located in FZ 1. Local Plan indicates good road links via the A303 important to Ilchester. SFRA and Local Plan both identify flood risk on this route, and we note that Highways England currently looking at scheme here. The Local Plan identifies potential need to improve the existing standard of protection of the main flood defences. However, it does not consider how this evolves with climate change, and how this may impact on the existing community.
