1.1 As part of its ongoing preparation of the South Somerset Local Plan Review 2016-2036, South Somerset District Council has prepared a Preferred Options document that sets out for consultation the Council’s proposed strategy for delivering new homes and employment over the period 2016 to 2036, including site allocations and policies against which planning applications will be assessed.

1.2 This stage of the Plan preparation follows on from the initial Issues and Options Consultation that took place from 26th October 2017 to 11th January 2018.

1.3 The current consultation period on the Preferred Options stage of the Local Plan Review runs from 12 noon on 28th June 2019 to 5pm on 18th September 2019.

1.4 The Preferred Options stage sets out the Council’s preferred approach and options for addressing spatial planning issues in the District, informed by feedback from the Issues and Options stage.

1.5 The Council is undertaking consultation “to involve as many individuals and businesses of South Somerset as possible so that [their] views can be collected and taken into account to help shape and evolve the next stage of the Local Plan.”

1.6 The next stage of the Local Plan Review will be the preparation of the Publication Plan for further public consultation in early 2020, ahead of submission to the Secretary of State, Examination in Public, and (subject to any recommended changes) final Adoption.

1.7 This Representation is submitted on behalf of LVA (Martock) in support of the following policies:
 Policy SS1 - Settlement Strategy
 Policy SS2 - Delivering New Housing Growth
 Policy MB1 - Housing Provision North of Coat Road, Martock.

1.8 This representation also objects to the exclusion of the land immediately to the west of allocation MB1, which should form part of the allocation.
