Policy SS7 seeks to impose a sequential approach to the development of previously developed land and gives a minimum target of new development which should be built on previously developed land and a with a 5 year land supply. The reference to 'and a 5-year land supply needs to pertain' is not entirely clear but if it relates to imposing a sequential approach within the 5-year supply of previously developed land then this is not justified nor will it be effective. Proposed Submission Local Plan 2006-2028 Introduction Sustainable Development Policy SD1: Sustainable Development

Proposed Submission Local Plan 2006-2028 Settlement Strategy Settlement Hierarchy Sustainabilty Appraisal Policy SS1: Settlement Hierarchy

  • Comment ID: 1150
Support for the identification of Langport/Huish Episcopi as Local Market Town within SS1 and Figure 4. The settlement hierarchy is considered sound, being based on determination by settlement role and function through the South Somerset Settlement Role and Function Study. It uses as its starting point the settlement categories within the South West RSS and measures the settlements within South Somerset against those. The basic premise that the development needs of a settlement should not be me
