We would support the need for the South Somerset District to expand over the next 16 years. For this to happen there is a need to:- increase housing and find areas for the expansion of employment over the district, and to ensure the sustainability of; the main centres of employment, market towns, villages ,and the Town of Yeovil. 9. Agusta Westland is key to the strategic importance and the economy of the whole district. WE SUPPORT the view that Agusta Westland should retain its estate and airfield, we also SUPPORT the need to retain the flight safety zone.

1. We OBJECT to the plans to build 332 new homes in the Shudrick Valley at llminster ( map 7 & inset 7a). The grounds for objection are that Shudrick Valley houses many forms of wildlife, many relocated there following development at The Canal Way site in the last few years. It should be noted that there is still development area at The Canal Way.

WE OBJECT to the plan to build an Urban Extension (map 15 & inset 15a) The grounds for objection are:- 2. WE OBJECT to building 2500 dwellings in an area close to a significant flood zone would place the villages of Barwick and Stoford at increased risk of flooding. We are not aware of any flood mitigation assessment statement. 3. We OBJECT to the impact the development of an Urban Extension would have on the A 37 Yeovil-Dorchester trunk road, the single routes to Yeovil Town Centre via Hendf

7. We OBJECT to the overall plan as it does not show any commitment to the development of any low cost housing across the district that would support the villages, at this point in time our villages are becoming dormer due to the lack of investment forcing young families to move away due to the ever increasing cost of village housing.

There is a clear need for EXTRA CARE housing within the district given the age range of the population, the Local Plan has not taken this into account.
