SSDC appear to have corrupted and destroyed data to meet their objective Through an FOI request it has been revealed that the SSDC have destroyed documents that are the heart of the democratic process. At the start of developing the Core Strategy, Cluster Workshops were held with Parish and District Councillors. At these workshop participants were asked to select areas within the Yeovil area which they thought would be suitable for development. At the first meeting not one group came up with

LEGAL COMPLIANCE The Council claims to have allowed 6 weeks for this stage of public consultation of the Plan However, they have chosen to do so over the school summer holiday period when many residents will be away on holiday for a significant proportion of this time. I was unable to purchase a printed version of the Submission document until 3rd July 2012 —5 days after the start of the 6 week period. Although the documen

SSDC have gone through the motions of consultation and paid scant consideration to intelligent and well-reasoned public representations, challenges and objections. 2,850 specific issues claim to have been reviewed, but questions have been unanswered, comments taken out of context and reasonable arguments refuted without explanation. 1.9 The frontloading exercises with Town and Parish Councils helped forge the draft strategy. The preferred options document went to public consultation during October 2010. The responses received were relatively small in number which reflects the success of the frontloading exercise and demonstrates a high level of acceptance of the strategy proposed at that stage. For South Petherton, (which may well be typical of other areas), of the representations made, around 11 were objecting to the low l

The legal process followed is not sound. The absence to consider and consult upon all reasonable alternatives is fundamental. Legal challenge is inevitable. There is no evidence of an adequate assessment on a strategy that does not focus the majority of growth upon Yeovil.

1.11 SSDC presented the upward revisions for South Petherton to the various committees for approval based on a statement in the agenda documents " there are a notable body of objections seeking growth to sustain the settlement". This, I believe (and given my comments under 1.9), has misled members attending and voting at the various committees who, given this statement, would conclude overall local support for the revisions. The revisions to the proposed submission document in general, are so f

It is with great sadness that I hear Good People from the Northern & Southern Communities surrounding Yeovil objecting to the Sustainable Urban Development being placed in their Parishes – They are NOT NIMBYS and there is NO NEED under the recent ONS figures dated March 23rd 2012 for the SUSTAINABLE URBAN EXTENSION PROPOSED in the SOUTH SOMERSET LOCAL PLAN 2006-2028, dated June 2012 As a West Coker Parish Counsellor for 30 years I have been involved in the development of my local communit
