Consultation Period Due process not followed The SSDC have not carried out due process in the consultation period at the publication of the Planning Policy document. The publication of the hard copy was 4 days late and therefore the full six week period has not been meet as objections had to be received by 10th Aug and no extra time was allowed. This should also be seen in the context that the SSDC were already aware that the con-sultation period was at a minimum and ran 3 weeks into the scho

The 6 week period of consultation between 28th June and 10th August 2012 has coincided with the main summer holidays as well as the London Olympics, reducing the opportunity for public feedback. This seems to have been a deliberate ploy to minimise public participation. Instructions for feedback are overly complicated and off-putting to the layman. The documentation assumes knowledge of legal terms and planning policy and the use of acronyms without explanations are not helpful. Ref: Introductio

I would be interested to learn how children particularly are being consulted on this: have schools been visited by S.Somerset representatives to voice their opinions/notice been placed in youth centres/local youth services promoted an input?
