Abbey Manor Group Ltd support the direction of growth identified on the Proposals Map to the south west of the town. This represents a wholly suitable location to accommodate the town's long term growth, consistent with the 2010 draft Core Strategy and the analysis of alternative locations around the town. We do not accept that the housing requirement at Wincanton should be reduced from that in the draft Core Strategy (c1050) to 703 dwellings as is presently proposed. We have indicated in other

Abbey Manor Group proposes that the land shown on the attached plan be allocated for a C2 Care Home. This is in addition to the area of growth shown on the Proposals Map to the west of the town for future housing as it is better related to the town centre and the facilities that elderly people need access to. Such a proposal would give a positive effect to the general approach supported in Policy HG6 and the evidence of need for specialist accommodation identified through the Strategic Housing M

The Plan proposed for the Wincanton Area by East Area Councillors and approved by South Somerset District Council has our full support. Parts of it were amended in earlier consultations, following our recommendations. The whole process was a fine example of local democracy in action. We applaud the part played by our local councillors. For the above reasons we find the plan for the Wincanton Area of South Somerset to be sound.

With regard to the proposed South Somerset Local Plan 2006-2028 we would like to make the following comments affecting Wincanton. We support the proposal that any future development for Wincanton should be to the west of the town and not to the north or the east of the town; particularly excluding any development adjacent to Wincanton Community Hospital at the end of Dancing Lane. This is a sensitive site tucked away behind the hospital with difficult traffic access to the town and beyond. Deve
