8.61 Advanced, high quality communications infrastructure is essential for economic growth.[1] The development of high-speed broadband technology and other communication networks also plays a vital role in enhancing the provision of local community facilities and services. The Council's Plan recognises the importance of delivering Super Fast Broadband to rural areas, and development should facilitate were possible the growth of new and existing telecommunications systems to ensure people have a choice of providers and services.
