Local Plan Period
Paragraph 22 of the National Planning Policy Framework (February 2019) states that "Strategic policies
should look ahead over a minimum 15 year period from adoption, to anticipate and respond to longterm
requirements and opportunities, such as those arising from major improvements in infrastructure".
It is noted while the Local Plan Review (LPR) considers the plan period covering the timeframe 2016-
2036, the anticipated adoption of the plan is set for 2021. This is based on th

2.1 The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) is clear in setting out the criteria for plan-making. Paragraph 15 states that "The planning system should be genuinely plan-led. Succinct and up-to-date plans should provide a positive vision for the future of each area; a framework for addressing housing needs and other economic, social and environmental priorities and a platform for local people to shape their surroundings."

On 24th July 2018, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) published the Revised National Planning Policy Framework which was subsequently updated in February 2019.
