I understand that there are plans to develop the land around the Newtown are of Langport, expanding north and east of the town up to Wearne.
I live in the Newtown area and find it difficult to believe you are considering house building in this area when there are new houses on the Kelways estate still unsold and there are vacant rundown properties in Langport town centre that could provide good town centre development.
I realise that developing a green plot of land is a lot easier and less has

2.4.1 Policy LMT2 directs growth to the north, east and south east of the Langport/HuishEpiscopi highlighted on the proposals map. It highlights the need for open space to be provided due to the proximity to Conservation areas.
2.4.2 We generally support the direction of growth identified on the Proposals Map subject to priority being given to those sites which are adjacent to and most closely related to the existing urban area. As recognised within the Local Plan, there are currently few sites

As stated in our previous response regarding the Habitats Assessment, policy MT4 from a Habitat Regulations perspective is considered to be stronger than absolutely necessary and there are questions over how this policy could be monitored to trigger the release of land and therefore its soundness. In addition, specific restrictions regarding protection of wintering birds at Wet Moor have now been incorporated into the policy.
