8.2 Why, when the RSS was revoked, was the whole process not re-assessed, especially in the light of national economic restraints and the drop in the housing market. Do we want to be another Eire with hundreds of empty houses? No one would deny that SSDC has a duty to support growth for the area and provide sufficient housing for its residents but it should be flexible in its response to a shifting environment!

Other areas such as transport have an environmental policy, but housing does not seem to. The time to implement environmental measures is a house is when it is being built. Recommend all new estates or multiple dwelling applications must contain environmentally friendly energy solutions such as solar and geothermal.
