Bourne Leisure endorses the Vision set out in the Core Strategy for Chard. However, the Company considers that more emphasis should be given to the objective of maintaining and enhancing the broadest possible range of elements comprising the tourism industry. Paragraph 6.27 refers to the good range of visitor attractions in Chard as including Cricket St. Thomas Wildlife Park, Ferne Animal Sanctuary, Forde Abbey and Chard Reservoir Nature Reserve but no reference is made to visitor accommodation

Chard We advise that there are delineated groundwater source protection zones in the vicinity of Chard. Depending on the location and nature of the development, these source protection zones may constrain development proposals.

The paragraph 6.23 reference to the Blackdown Hills should include Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to fully acknowledge the importance of the town's landscape setting.
