The vision and proposals for Crewkerne are discussed within Paragraphs 6.72 - 6.85 of the Draft Core Strategy. The vision for the Town and the recognition that additional development will assist in the improved sustainability of the settlement is welcomed. The identification of broad local support for the CLR Site contained within Paragraph 6.79 of the Core Strategy and derived from The Community Plan for Crewkerne and District (2005/6) is welcomed. Crewkerne Para 6.72 There is no mention of flood risk in Crewkerne. Goulds Brook in particular has long sections of culvert. Aside from flood risk issues the stream corridor is completely disrupted and there is no continuity of habitat. We advise that there are delineated groundwater source protection zones in the vicinity of Crewkerne. Depending on the location and nature of the development, these source protection zones may constrain development proposals.
