It is not clear how these local issues have been formulated. For example "A desire for the requisite amount of employment land to be delivered with additional housing growth." There are no clear references to material from which this derives and therefore cannot be substantiated. The Wincanton Peoples plan has does not state these issues, and appears to state contradicting issues. I have two comments. The Western approach to Wincanton is depressing and needs to be addressed. The ramshackle appearance of the old Cow and Gate factory and its surrounding businesses together with the garage opposite are an eyesore and depressing for residents let alone visitors to the town. Replacement by more attractive buildings, either commercial or residential, is long overdue. Protect and enhance the landscape - Until Southgate is sorted I have very little hope for Wincanton. First impressions when coming off the A303 is what an earth is this place. It doesn't encourage people to want to stop and look around. The site would be better sorted to a school if it is still going ahead. I would to think the old Cow and gate building has safety issues which need looking at. Better still demolish it.
