Some general observations Firstly, given that SSDC has now declared a climate and environmental emergency we suggest that this set of policies dealing with climate change, the conservation and development of the natural environment (EQ1, 2, 4 , 5, 7), as well as HW2 (Green infrastructure) should be looked at again in detail. NPPF 150b identifies location as a factor in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Policy TA1, however, fails to include this. It does not make sense to have a whole list of comparatively trivial policies addressing this issue while at the same time planning to build large numbers of houses in villages like Martock where 80% of the householders will travel to work on a route where there are no commuter-time buses. We suggest an additional paragraph promoting the principle of building houses close
